Over-gifting December 18, 2009
I’m so excited about the next couple of weeks!
I’ve had a lot of fun this week shopping for loved ones! I narrowed down my list of giftees a lot, so if you got a gift then you know you’re special! (if you didn’t it doesn’t mean you’re not, just that we never declared that we were exchanging) I used to make my giftee lists wayyy too long! I’d put everyone that I hung out with regularly on the list and of course never end up being able to complete it because of a mixture of lack of money and a realization that these people would just feel guilty if I gave them a gift and they didn’t give me one. I solved the problem by buying a few generic gifts, like cute boxes of holiday chocolates, so when some did get me something that I wasn’t expecting I could just say “Oh, I got you something, too!” and run back to my place to grab a gift for them!
I’m guilty of over-gifting! I love to buy things for loved ones and if I find things that I think you’ll like I just can’t resist! I don’t expect others to do the same, so don’t feel guilty if you didn’t! I’m like a 5-year-old on X-mas morning, when it’s not my turn I’m yelling “Open mine next!!!”
I’ve almost finished my gift list! The only people I have left to shop for are my brother and my roommate. I’ve gotta buy a few more things for Christopher (all counting as one gift, just multiple pieces).
I’ve got a busy couple of weeks ahead of me!
- Going to Raleigh to celebrate early X-mas with Christopher’s family on the 23rd because their mom has to work on the 25th. I got a bit too much for their mom, but my mom and grandma talked me into just giving her the scarf I made and the box of peppermint bark and saving the stuff from Bath and Body Works for her birthday. Grandma said “she’ll think you’re trying to tell her something.” and I was like “Yeah, that I think she’s awesome!” Still, I’ve gotta learn that nobody likes an over-gifter… Bleh!
- Christopher’s coming back to my house with me after that to celebrate X-mas with my family and me on the 25th! I’m still gonna overdo it with gifts for him, but I AM still holding back a little! At least I gave him fair warning that I went overboard because I want to spoil him!
- A few days after X-mas Christopher and I are gonna go back to Raleigh for a night or two before continuing to Maryland to celebrate New Years with his mom’s ex-boyfriend (he’s still very close to the family and he’s getting married in May! Congratulations Sam and Donna!)
- We’ll spend another night or two there before heading back to our respective parents’ homes for a few days before classes start again. Louise, my roomie, may come visit me! I hope she does because I’d love for her to meet my family and let me show her around Charlotte!
Happy holidays everyone! Regardless of what/whether you’re celebrating I hope you enjoy it!

Brains December 12, 2009
I think that the lack of ability or willingness to sympathize with other humans and/or creatures shows a lack of brain development.
“Don’t do unto others as you wouldn’t have them do unto you.” -Confucius
Afterthought:
Apparently a lot of scientists agree! Several university studies have shown that people with higher IQs are more likely to become vegetarians!
Lover’s Language December 9, 2009
I’ve realized that my boyfriend and I have developed our own language. Not really a cutesy type of thing, if I had to describe it as anything I would call it peculiar, that’s the nice way to say it anyway!
I just wanted to start recording the different phrases that, until now, only we would understand beyond face value.
So here goes:
Rice and beans: Referring to body odor or the armpit area.
200 Pounds: (Noun, verb) The act of grinding of one’s teeth. A mouth guard or a request for someone to put their mouth gaurd in (prevents the grinding of one’s teeth in their sleep).
Tension/’tention: Root word- Attention. Involves the invasion of one’s personal space, often in retribution for one’s seeking attention. Often involves tickling, poking, biting, licking, etc. all for the sake of annoying or disgusting the victim.
Brittany: (Adj.)(synonyms: Tracy, Nancy [any name ending in a y sound]) Disgusting, smelly, ugly, or otherwise undesireable.
Lips: (Verb) To kiss.
Chinese girl hiss: (Noun) Origin: (Nicole) Shangnen. Refers to a noise made in response to an annoying comment or to express disagreement.
e.g.: -”Those shoes are ugly”
-”Tsss!”
Popscockles: Origin: Metalocolypse. A synonym for popsicles.
Blose job: Origin: Metalocolypse. Nose bleed
Blanket girl: Also known as a Bed Girl, the Blanket Girl is an elusive creature who coccoons herself in a thick layer of blankets through the Winter months and sheds the layers in the Spring.
I’ll have to continue this later. It’s hard to think of all of them when I try to force myself, but we’ve certainly got more!
In the meantime, answer me this!
Ad Campaign December 6, 2009
So my school has a new ad campaign and it’s just awful!
These billboards are now all over the state of NC. I just have to share a few!
“Following your friends, that’s easy. Following your heart, that’s brave!”
(More like going to the same school that all of your friends are going to, that’s easy. Going to a school that no one’s ever heard of in the city with the highest number of STD cases in the state, that’s brave!)
“Knowing your professor’s name, that’s easy. Your professor knowing your’s, that’s brave!”
(This just makes it sound like the students here are really scary and even our professors are afraid of us!)
“LMAO, that’s easy. Studyin’ MAO, that’s brave!”
(Need I say more?)
These new billboards have aroused a lot of laughter, but I seriously doubt that they’ll attract any new students.
